Responsibilities include investigating home conditions of children, evaluating children's physical and psychological makeup, participating in committees and evaluating foster and adoptive homes.
Performs initial screening and evaluation of adoption cases. Prepares reports detailing screening and evaluation of assigned adoption cases for the use of the adoption unit and the courts. Recruits foster and adoptive parents. Makes periodic visits on children in placement to evaluate conditions. Makes referrals for families and children to services in the community. Completes initial assessments of children and families and implements treatment plans. Participates in investigations of abused and neglected children. Prepares case reports and documentation, making recommendations for a course of action. Provides protective services. Coordinates referrals for clients. Prepares legal documentation for court. Provides transportation to clients for court or medical appointments. Other duties may be assigned.
An individual should have knowledge of database software and word processing software. Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Embraces and implements the Jobs/Language/Community Cherokee Nation Strategy.
Child Welfare Assistant - $11.44 Hourly
Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university; or six years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Child Welfare Specialist I - $13.77 Hourly
Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university; no exceptions. Additional 6 months experience in a related field.
Child Welfare Specialist II - $31,054.40 Annually
Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university in Social Work, an area of Child or Family Center Practice, Sociology, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Management, Juvenile Justice, Guidance and Counseling, or field that encompasses Human Relationship activities; two years experience in a related field is required.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
